Chelsea Renews Giroud and Caballero Contracts For One Season

Chelsea, the English Premier League rival, renewed the contracts of striker Olivier Giroud and goalkeeper Willy Caballero until the end of the 2020-2021 season.

Chelsea coach Frank Lampard said in a club statement: “Since my return to Chelsea, Olivier has been great as a professional and human being in general … He has great potential to help the team on and off the field and not only with his talent but the example he sets every day and the experience he provides to our young squad. I am happy For the dear to continue in the next season. ”

Olivier Giroud joined Chelsea from his rival Arsenal in January 2018, and the 33-year-old forward scored three goals in 13 games in all competitions this season.

“I have confidence in Willy, with great training and with a stunning professional,” Lampard added. “He entered the starting lineup early this year and showed that his potential and experience are invaluable within the team.”

Caballero, who joined Manchester City in 2017, has participated in nine games this season.

The Premier League has been suspended since mid-March due to the Coronavirus pandemic, but clubs have returned to training as part of a “season resumption project” that appears to be occurring in June.

British media reported on Wednesday that Chelsea midfielder N’golo Kante had missed training due to a health problem.
