Formula One: Frenchman Pierre Gasly instead of Ricciardo in Red Bull

Frenchman Pierre Gasly will lead the 2019 Formula One World Cup alongside Dutchman Max Verstappen, leaving behind Daniel Ricciardo, who will move to Renault, Red Bull announced on Monday.

Gasly will replace Ricciardo, who has decided to leave the Austrian team at the end of the season after joining Toro Rosso in 2014.

Red Bull have suffered this season because of problems and withdrawals, but have managed to win three races, two of them through Ricciardo, who is fifth in the standings with Verstappen before nine races at the end of the season.

But for Gasly, “Red Bull has always been looking forward to fighting for championships or victories and that’s what I want.” I’m a really competitive guy, and when I do something, I always fight for the best and the best.

Although the season is still far from its final race in Abu Dhabi on November 25, the announcement of the inclusion of Gaselli to succeed Ricciardo means that many of the major teams have settled for their drivers next season, including Mercedes champion, who announced before the German race in June 22 that he extended to his drivers Lewis Hamilton, the title holder and current leader and Finnish Valtteri Potas.

McLaren has also decided to replace former Spanish world champion Fernando Alonso, who took the decision to stay away from Formula One next season by joining Carlos Sainz, who will leave his place in Renault for Riccardo, where he will lead the Australian alongside German Nico Hulkenberg.
