Juventus striker Cristiano Ronaldo is frustrated by criticism from his former club Real Madrid, the Marca newspaper reported on Wednesday.
Many Spanish journalists have spoken of Ronaldo since his departure to Juventus, and how the club looks good without him, making the player feel that he is not appreciated enough after having achieved in the past years within the walls of Santiago Bernabeu.
The newspaper added that one of the reasons for the anger of the press from Ronaldo is his absence from the European Player of the Year award, but he was wrong and congratulated Luka Modric for winning the prize, although convinced that he deserves it.
The newspaper pointed out that some of Real Madrid players did not like the absence of Ronaldo awards ceremony, and dealt with Luka Modric as a rival, but the tension was much less after he apologized to the Croatian star and congratulated him on the award.
Modric had won the European Player of the Year award at the expense of Cristiano Ronaldo and Egyptian star Mohamed Salah of Liverpool, after the Croatian won the Champions League title and lead his country to the World Cup final against France.
According to the Spanish newspaper, Ronaldo intends to attend the World Player of the Year, which will be held in London, on 24 September, after missing the ceremony held in the Principality of Monaco.

Ronaldo left Real Madrid at the start of the season for Juventus in a deal worth 105 million euros and an annual salary of 30 million euros after joining the team in the summer of 2009 from Manchester United.
The 33-year-old has not managed to score a goal with his new team so far in the Italian league, although three rounds have passed so far.
Cristiano Ronaldo is Real Madrid’s leading scorer, scoring 450 goals in 438 appearances for nine seasons in white jerseys. He also won the Golden Ball 4 times with the Meringhi, 3 times as Europe’s best player, and three times his Golden Shoe.
Ronaldo has won four Champions League titles with the club. He has also won the Spanish league on two occasions, the Club World Cup three times, the Spanish King’s Cup twice, and the European and Spanish Super Cup twice in each.
Ronaldo will face an emotional confrontation in the Champions League this season after Juventus have signed up with Manchester United and will return to Old Trafford again this season.
