Tennis world number one Serena Williams has booked her place in the quarter-finals of the US Open on top of Estonia’s Kaia Kanepi.
Serena Williams ended her opponent’s career in the fourth round of the US Open with a 6-0, 4-6, 6-3 win over Kaia Kanepi.
Serena started the match very strongly, as she managed to settle the first set for her quickly with a 6-0 lead in just 18 minutes thanks to her crushing hits.
Williams appeared to be on the way to booking the pass for the next round, but the Estonian player surprised everyone and succeeded in breaking Serena’s sending several times, to finish the group with a 6 – 4, and tied the score.
The 36-year-old Serena regained her composure and balance in the deciding group. She managed to break Kanepi’s lead at the start, with a 3-0 lead as she dominated the match with unique moves and guided shots, eventually defeating the group 6-3 to oust Estonian Adult out-of-competition.
The younger sister of the Williams family managed to stop the surprise of Kanepi, who unexpectedly knocked out world number one Simona Halep of the first round of the tournament.
Serena continued her career success in the Grand Slam and set her to the record for the 24th Grand Slam title.
Williams reached the Wimbledon final after returning from an extended absence due to pregnancy and childbirth problems but lost the final and title to German Angelique Kerber.
