Xavi Announces: I Want to Train Barcelona, But with Conditions

The former Barcelona star and the current coach of the Qatari Al-Sadd team, Xavi Hernandez, admitted that he wanted to train the Catalan team, expressing his enthusiasm for the idea and his ability to make the addition to Barcelona in the event he takes the technical leadership of the Blaugrana, but he linked all of this with a clear condition.

Xavi revealed in an interview with the Spanish magazine “Elle Magazine” that he really wants to train Barca one day, but under the condition that he lead a project “starting from scratch” through which he has the freedom to make decisions as the manager of the technical staff of the team, he said.

Xavi had received an offer shortly before Barcelona’s leadership to succeed coach Ernesto Valverde, but he rejected it, eventually leaving the position for the current coach Quique Setién.

“My desire to return to Barcelona is clear to me, I am very excited about this idea … Now that I see myself coaching I think I can add something to the team,” said Xavi, in response to the possibility that he could lead Barcelona as a coach one day.

On the condition he wanted in order to lead Barcelona, Xavi said: “I made it clear to them that I see myself in a project from scratch where I have the freedom to make decisions, “adding that he wants to work with people he trusts, conceding that these are among them Carles Puyol and Jordi Cruyff.

Xavi said: “We are talking about Carles Puyol, who was Barcelona captain, and Jordi Cruyff, a very good businessman with extensive experience in technical management. Harmony although the last word should be mine. ”

He added: “In the changing room there cannot be any negative or toxic element … everything must be harmonious. I would like to work with people from my surroundings to form a good team..I have nothing against anyone; moreover, I do not have a bad relationship with Josep Maria Bartomeu … I will be with everyone who wants good for Barcelona. “
